When I try to insert words into a paragraph I have already written it erases the letters after the point where I am inserting instead of pushing the words ahead to make room. How can I stop this?

There must be INS indicator in the Word status line. Double click on it and mode will change. (I assume you're using Office 97, in old versions of Word Ins key is working either.)
Good luck, Igor M
