I was forced to use my windows startup floppy disk to boot my computer. I used my CD to re-install windows and everything works fine now except on startup I get "Microsoft Windows 98 Startup Menu" with its's 6 options. It times out after 30 seconds but how to I get rid of it?

Two places to check:
1. Start>>run>>msconfig
Click on the advanced button in the bottom right.
Make sure Enable Startup Menu is not checked.
If it is, uncheck it>>ok>>ok>>reboot.2. On the Root of your c:\ drive there is a hidden file called MSDOS.SYS
Find it and double click on it.
You will get an Open With box.
Choose Notepad.
Under the [Options] section, check for the line:
Bootmenu=1
If it is there, remove it. Save the new msdos.sys file by clicking file>>save and reboot.

Better to just change
Bootmenu=1
to
Bootmenu=0Then you at least have the right wording if you want to change it back.
If you just want to reduce the time it displays before continuing the boot, add the following line to the botom section of MSDOS.SYS
BootMenuDelay=nn
Set 'nn' to equal the number of seconds to disply the menu, eg; BootMenuDelay=12
Be sure to save the changes before exit.
Installing TweakUI will give you these controls, and many more, without having to open and edit MSDOS.SYS or other system files.
