Whenever I try to play videos on my computer using Windows Media Player, I get the above error. Here's a screenie of the error:

Try an update first:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/259403

Download and install vc6redistsetup_enu.exe and see if that fixes it.

Or just use a better media player (and just about anything beats WMP). Most of these should work on 98SE:

The update didn't work...Should I post the error report WMP created?

And I did download VLC, and am using it as a substitute for WMP, but it doesn't play AVI files I shoot with my camera.

LOL.

I got a C++ error when I tried to install KM Player.

Same box as the one I linked above, except it says "abnormal program termination".

No...

I honestly wouldn't care, except it VLC won't play certain avi files I have.

I tried rolling back WMP to the original 98se, and then reupgrading, that didn't work.

Could the version of unicows.dll I have be a problem? I have a different version in c:\windows\system then I do in the WMP folder.
