Go to control panel > add/remove programs > scroll to microsoft internet explorer... > click on add/remove button and select option to fix internet explorer. This may help.

I have tried that several times. I am curious. Could there be a link between the mod/ver number and the app/ver number. I notice that they are not the same.

I had the same problem and I am not sure if this will help you but it couldn't hurt to try it. I removed IE from my system and re-installed it. It fixed mine.

The only problem with that is that my IE was installed at the store when I bought it. I would have no way to reinstall it.

Steph,
If the first suggestion from Sidahmed doesn't work you will have to remove and re-install Internet Explorer. You can get a copy of IE very easy. If you have an AOL disk at home IE may be on it. Or you might even have netscape navigator allready installed on your computer and you can download IE from netscape. Or just go to a friends house and download it.
