ok i have been trying to get my microphone to work all day on msn. i found out that it was muted. i unmuted it, then when i talked into it i could here myself talking in the speakers. my friend said that was normal it was supposed to happen. anyway, someone told me to run adio tuning wizard under the tab tools on msn. i did that. i have SB AdioPCI 64d Plaback speakers. that same name was also the only choice for the type of microphone. do i have to change that or just leave it. anyway, i did the test and the test said, Read the fallowing text into the microphone in your normal voice:
"If the indicator goes into the yellow area as i speak i know the microphone will be adjusted properly, if not i need to move the microphone closer." what does that mean because there is no indicator or yellow area. i need some major help, so anyone who can help me THANKS A BUNCH!!!!!

IF your mic is muted in the volume control panel then you'll get no indication of sound on th eaudio tuning wizard mic test.
UN-MUTE the mic and try again.
You should see a green bar extending to yellow and maybe red, just above the volume control slider in the mic test dialogue of audio tuning wizard. That would be just under the text you are supposed to read for the test.

I use yahoo messenger and have the mike muted in the play control (click the little speaker at the lower right of the screen). If I unmute it I get my voice back through the speakers. Not sure about msn but should work similar.

I just read down the list of question and saw several from you about the mike. After reading your problem I really think you need to take the computer to a tech and let them set it up for you. You don't seem capable of getting it working.
Example: "where is the microphone port??is it the port with the microphone picture on it???
DUH!
