Windows 98
HELP!!!
Dont you get sick of registering ?

The 06 error suggests that the processor has encounted an invalid command.
Check that you can meet the minimum requirements for this webcam. And that your are installing the right driver for your OS.

Well in the manual all it asks for is a pentium processor ..so i think it woul incude that and i have heard of ones operatibfon pentiums..the driver came with the program on the cd..Co incidentally only for windows 2000 and below as well as the online site niethr one have sucessfully worked ro rthe minimul all i need is 16 megs ofram pentium priocessor ir equivalent and such and it does recognize all that criteria.. whar should i do ?

If you connected the camera before installing the drivers and it was just in the last day or two then go to Device manager and remove the camera.
Restart the machine and while it is showing the memory count hold down the Ctrl key or hit the F8 key when the "Verifying DMI pool data" message is showing to get to the Startup menu.
Select Command Prompt.
At the C:> prompt type
scanreg /restore
Select the date that you first installed the camera. It will be the first bootup of that day.
Let it run.
When back at the C:> prompt type
win
Hit Enter to load Windows.Once it finishes loading to the Desktop install/reinstall the driver CD.
Then connect the camera to the USB port.If the results are the same then the message suggests that the driver is not compatible to your hardware.
A driver is the small programming language unique to the driver that allows your device to communicate with your processor. The message states that when it is loaded into RAM it can not interpret the instructions loaded to that specific memory register. Your processor does not know what to do with the instruction.
My guess is that it has inadvertently loaded the wrong driver for your setup.
If you did, in fact, install the software before connecting the camera the first time then the possibility exits that it is simply not compatible to your machine.
Before giving up on it and performing the above you may want to try using one of the other drivers that came on the CD.
Using Device manager go to the camera's Properties page and select Change Driver. Browse to the CD and try the others close to the correct one.
The manual does note the requirement to be Windowsâ 98. I, at this point in time, am not so sure of what that means. I am using Win98SE that shows as:
Microsoft Windows 98
Second Edition
4.10.2222 A
When I look at the System Properties (Win+Pause/Break) page.
It may, in fact, mean the minimum requirement to be Win98SE versus Win98FE (4.10.1998). The retail box it came in should specify Win98SE if that is the minimum requirement.
I had to upgrade to Win98SE from Win98FE to use some functions of my Sony Digital Video camera. I tried to get it to work on Win98FE before upgrading and sure enough, just like the manual said, those functions would not work on Win98FE.You did not mention which version you are using.

Bryan

Beyond the above...
If you are using Win98FE (4.10.1998) then have you installed or have access to the Windows 98 Sevice Pack 1?On that CD is a "sysupd" folder that resolves an issue regarding USB as referrenced in the text file in the same folder that refers to "INFO: Bulk Transfer URB's Can Specify More Than 64 Bytes".
If you don't have access the the PS1 CD or don't have it installed then I have uploaded just that portion of the SP1 CD to my webpage W98csp.exe 1059KB and W98csp.txt 7KB. Right click on each and select "Save target as" to download the two files.
Read the Win98csp.txt before doing anything else.Once you have the copies then let me know so I can remove them from my webpage. Otherwise I will remove them by Friday 10Dec.

Thank you very much for ther information brian . Evidentally the software was installed well before the camera was put in to avoid any conflicts, the only drivers that arrive with the cd itself are those of the camera itself by micro innovations technologies. For clarifaction the minimum states any pentium processor, 16 megs of ram and is available for windows 2k and below..So with that in mind, i am more then satisfied a pentium 120 would work with those conditions, Even if a bit slower. The cd drivers dont work , on the website the results are the same.. Windows 98 Second edition is what is being used. I am at my wits end here

Win98SE, so that is not the problem.
One of my sisters gave me two old PCs that were broken.
One of them is a very old Packard Bell.
I fdisk'd and reformatted it's hard drive. I then installed a fresh copy of Win98FE.All was good but I had to install the drivers for the integrated video.
I went to the manufacturer's website (Sis) and got the correct drivers.I kept getting a similar error on a blue screen. I would then restart and upon reaching the desktop I would get a error message popup window stating that the adapter was incorrect for my hardware.
"Adapter type is incorrect"I went back to the Sis site and even tried using an older version of the driver with the same results.
In the end I wound up using the Packard Bell Restore CD and returned it back to it's original setup as it was when it was purchased and the video was fine.
In checking I found that it was using the same driver file name I had been trying to use. Perhaps it was a different version though. I had spent too much time trying to get it to work that I was not going to, then again, try the one I had tried earlier to see if it was the same version.
So, I am suggesting that perhaps that device is just not compatible to your hardware or software configurations. What programs are you trying to run it in? Did it come with software that can run it? I see it came with:
Software Included:
· NewSoftâ Presto! VideoWorks v.4.2
· NewSoft Presto! Mr. Photo v.1.5
· NewSoft Presto! Image Folio v.4.1
· Uleadâ Photo Explorer v.6.0
How about that first one? Also in the manual:
Any questions pertaining to the functions or features of our products call: 1-877-550-5534
Maybe they can help?Perhaps you would be better off to return it for credit towards a different one.
That is certainly not the best advise I had ever given but I got nothing else.Regards,
Bryan

You might be right brian ..and thank you for the help..by far mor ethen i ever got before.. I looked on a few other sites..apparently alot of people having this problem with the camera
