Hi, I posted earlier about my Internet Explorer suddenly closing all my open Internet windows when I tried to enter certain sites. I think I have the explanation now, the windows usually just close down but today I received a message from the computer. It had the title:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"

and the text was:

"Runtime Error!

Program:C:\PROGRAM\INTERNET EXPLORER\IEXPLORE.exe

abnormal program termination"

What does it mean and how can I solve the problem? I have the latest Internet Explorer 5.5 (but minimal installation) and Windows 98 SE.

Please help me

Probably a library file got overwriten with an older version when you installed some software. Try reinstalling IE.

C++ is a PC "language" converter. It is loaded is some form or another into most new PCs to translate some programs, It works by running a written programer's work, but to make life easy for a programmer C++ has some "standard" bits pre-done that in a program you just refer to by name and it is done automatically. It looks as though this "pre-made" program has accidentaly been courupted or removed. theres the explanation, dont know the answer as the C++ compiler is a WELL hidden thing in PC's The C++ prog costs £100's to buy!! can't make it too easy to find!

Don't panic...this is quit a common problem.
You can download the runtime files from many places on the internet. Just do a search "runtime library"
you can also get them from Packard Bell driver library.

there are several groups get them all and save in a safe place for future use..

Let me know how it works out.
