Memory Upgrade

I have 4 Simm slots (two with 16 mb to equal 32 of total memory) and 2 Dimm slots. Can I add Sdram Dimm to the existing Simm 32mb of memory or do I have to remove the 2 16's.?Do I need to use both Dimm slots if I do this? Second, can I add any increment of memory to the already present 32mb (two 16's) in the 3rd and 4th Simm slots and again do I need two matching values or can I simply add any value to just one slot?

1. I'm fairly certain you cannot use SIMMS and DIMMS together.
2. DIMMS do not have to be installed in pairs, like SIMMS.
3. The SIMM pairs must match- same size, timing, etc. They must also be compatible with the memory you already have installed in the first two slots.

It depends on the motherboard. You'll have to check the manual. I've got a few AOpen AP5T Socket 7 motherboards that I use with 4x16=64 MB SIMMs plus one 64-MB and one 128-MB stick of SDRAM DIMMs. This gives me the 256 MB total which is the maximum that this motherboard supports. (The only reason that I use the SIMMs is because I've got a whole pile of them & they were free. Anything that I buy new is PC133 which is backwards compatible to ATA 100 & 66.)
Some boards won't let you mix types or even sizes of RAM. The SIMMS have to be installed in pairs as Brent has stated.
