Due to a virus I had to format my hard drive and repartition it. I messed up. I dont know what resources to allocate to what in FDISK Its a 486 DX2 66 w 32 mb of ram and WIN 95Most local programs run fine and IE 3.0 will work until i get too many windows open and when i use IE 5.5 it will load up but as soon as i click on the first link it freezes dead most times and at others it gives me the memory parity error.
I need to know what % of my drive i should use for primary, secondary, logical DOS and where the partition is set.
If it sounds like I don't know what I am talking about it's because I don't.
Don't laugh...PLEASE HELP
Clod

Clod,
A lot of partitioning is just personal opinion. If I have a small hard drive-say 420 MB, using Win 95, I like to Partition most of it as the Primary DOS partition and just save maybe a 40 MB partition where I stick drivers and software for sound cards, video cards etc.-just stuff that Won't get lost if the computer crashes and you have to repartion the C: drive.
If I have a computer with over 4 to 5 Gigs I would make the second partition at least 1 Gig and store programs for future use there.
Somebody else will look at what I have done as far as partitioning and then try to tell me the RIGHT way to do it.

As to the Memory parity error; sounds more like a hardware problem there-although not all Microsoft Error messages are accurate.
This Error could mean that you have a problem with your RAM or cache RAM chips.
Try going into the BIOS and disabling the L2 cache if this is a feature in your setup screen.
Then start your computer and run it for a while and see if the error goes a way,.
You should also try reseating your RAM chips for the heck of it.I would get rid of IE 5 . If version 3 is working for you
I have had problems with IE 5+ on several computers. I would say that you should uninstall 5 and stick with IE 3.0 if its working.
You also say that you had a virus-do you have an up to date anti-virus program? Fdisk won't get rid of viruses.
