Forgive me if I posted in the wrong forum.
I ran 2 info programs on my computer that are supposed to tell me about my computer (Aida32, and SA52SE). They both told me that the Maximum Memory Module Size is 64MB. Now what would happen to the computer if I installed over the maximum? Thanks.

It's probably telling you the maximim size memory stick the bios can read is 64 meg.
Your P-I motherboard can probably read a total of more than 64 meg as long as no memory stick is larger than 64.
Most of the P-I chipsets couldn't cache more than 64 meg however, so memory beyond that amount was usually not beneficial.
Some of the gateway P-I's had 2 dimm slots only and wouldn't recognize a stick larger than 32 meg. So with those you were stuck with a maximum of 64 meg. I'm not sure if that's the case with yours.

If you put in a stick larger than the bios can recogize it'll either read the stick at a reduced amount or not read it at all.
In the case of the older P-I's and DIMM sticks they would see a stick with chips on only one side as 16 meg and a double-sided stick as 32 meg regardless of the actual capacity. I know this was true of 64 and 128 sticks. I'm not sure about higher capacities. It's possible it wouldn't see them at all and just give a memory error message.
