I have had to re-install windows 98 recently and I cannot get audio cd's to play. I get the following error message " Failed to initialize disc detector. The file MEDIADET.exe may be missing or an incorrect version. You will not be able to play disc based media".

It is a creative live 1024 soundcard. Please help

I had the problem when I uninstalled Liquid Player--though it took me about 10 hours to find it out(uninstalling LP at least for me caused me ot get the message quoted above).
When I downloaded LP and installed it everything worked fine. I won't make the mistake of being too clean again!!
