thanks but have already done that...rolls back on uninstall to previous version which works just fine.Forgot to mention that music videos still play OK in 9....

Microsoft has a separate download of WMP9 codecs. Perhaps you need to install these.

I am also experiencing this error message. Unable to reinstall an older version or delete the current one. Any ideas? I have installed the WMP9 codecs with no success.
