how do you completely uninstall Max Blast and EZ Bios from Maxtor. I've got an IDE PCI adapter card and it says to uninstal any programs like those. but I can't see how

start, run, type-sysedit. you can edit from there but make sure of what you are deleting or editing. may want to write down or print whats there before you make changes

Go to their websites and READ READ READ.
This is loaded onto the mbr area of the hard disc, and is not simply deleted or uninstalled like normal application software.

Yes, it creates a non-DOS partition in the partition table. Bart has the best idea right after name's suggestion to read.

check it out:
Subject: Uninstallation Procedure for MaxBlast version 9.xxM
Summary: MaxBlast removal procedure.
Document #: 24006Overview:
At times, the EZ-BIOS (installed via MaxBlast) may not be required to maintain the capacity of hard drive(s) in a computer. A good example of this scenario is when an end user upgrades the hardware (e.g., motherboard/BIOS upgrade, installation of a BIOS card or EIDE Controller card with onboard BIOS) in their respective PC. End users MUST uninstall (remove) the EZ-BIOS if such an upgrade is implemented. This Technical Note details the procedures necessary to successfully uninstall the EZ-BIOS (MaxBlast version 9.xxM).
! WARNING ! Ensure that the system's BIOS can translate the full capacity.
Procedure:
Part One: Disabling EZ-BIOS Control
Insert the MaxBlast 9.xxM diskette into floppy disk drive A: drive and turn the system on .At this time, the EZMAX Window will appear on the screen. Press [Enter] to continue executing MaxBlast.
Press [Enter] twice to continue loading MaxBlast.
Press [Enter] to accept the term of the license agreement.
From the Main Menu, select "Advanced Options" and press [Enter].
Select the "EZ-BIOS Setup" and press [Enter]. If necessary, select the appropriate hard drive.
Highlight the "Controlled by EZ-BIOS" option and press [Enter].
Press the "Y" key and press [Enter] to disable EZ-BIOS control.
Highlight the "Exit - Save Changes" option press [Enter].
WARNING: At this point, it's important to note that the LBA translation provided by EZ-BIOS is NOT always compatible with the hardware solution's IDE translation (commonly called LBA Mode, or Logical Block Addressing Mode). This means that the new hardware solution may be able to correctly handle the hard drive just fine. However, since the hard drive was formatted using MaxBlast 9.xxM, the LBA Mode may be slightly different…possibly enough to crash the system. This is not to say that MaxBlast 9.xxM specially formatted the hard drive, but that the LBA Mode used by EZ-BIOS may be different from the LBA Mode used by the new, hardware solution. The following will test whether the EZ-BIOS LBA Mode is Compatible with the new, hardware solution's LBA Mode.Part Two: Uninstalling the EZ-BIOS
Boot the system from the MaxBlast 9.xxM Diskette and run EZDRIVE.From the Main Menu, select "Advanced Options" and press [Enter].
Select "EZ-BIOS Setup" and press [Enter]. If necessary, select the appropriate hard drive from the drive list displayed on the screen.
Highlight "Uninstall EZ-BIOS" and press [Enter].
Type "Y" and press [Enter] to uninstall the EZ-BIOS.
Press [Esc] to return to the Advanced Options Menu.
Highlight "Exit This Menu" and press [Enter].
Remove the MaxBlast diskette and reboot the system.
The system is now under the complete control of the new, hardware solution.NOTE: Users MUST repeat this process on the Primary Master Device (Drive 1) if the MaxBlast was initially removed from Drive 2 (Primary Slave), Drive 3 (Secondary Master), or Drive 4 (Secondary Slave).
