Rob,

PaperPort Viewer should open it up.

Check the link below.

If this does not help I will search my old e-mail as I helped someone else open the .max file that was e-mailed to them.

PAPERPORT VIEWER

I know of Paperport (www.scansoft.com) Sorry, Rob. I've looked around, even checked tucows, but I can't find any free viewers for this file type.

Maybe a converter? I don't know...

Tried it and it didn't work. I'm so used to posting in this forum but now i have WinXP. It came up with an error about a 16 bit application. Thanks for the help though.

There are two file types, a picture and a 3d graphic image. Just recieved a pic and the download at the scansoft site opened it no probs. If you have a possible 3d graphic you might search using the term "3d .max file viewer" or "3d .max file"

I also had problems opening .max file using a Paperport program downloaded from a link at another site. After deleting previously installed versions, I went to http://www.scansoft.com/paperport/downloads/ and installed and it worked perfectly. No more crazy error messages about cannot find file to not a win 32 application.
