It sounds like you're not putting the path in correctly.

How exactly are you trying to map the drive?

My memory is failing me, but there is a dos command to limit the number of drive addresses that are available. Check the config.sys and autoexec.bat files for that command and delete it. I think it might be something like 'Lastdrive=x'.

I have Win98SE, no lastdrive in config.sys, I don't map drives but have set use statements in bat files to attach drives. I use letters M to X to attach drives/partitions on other computers.

My net attach statement

net use m: \\hp667\d

hp667 is the name of my shared computer (file server)
d is the shared drive (nothing fancy, since I may have more than one shared computer on the network at a time.)

I only attach the drives needed for the current session and detach them when finished.
