Hello, everyone...
I was wondering, how do you make Windows 98 look like Windows 3.1? I don't mean changing from Explorer.exe to Progman.exe - I mean, changing the dialog bars to Windows 3.1's style, like, with the Up and Down arrows on the right side and the --- on the left side, and the menu bars would look exactly the same, and it would look like Windows 3.1 to the average user, but it would actually be Windows 98? Is there any way to do that? Like, put a Windows 3.1 DLL into the Windows 98 folder? But how do I do that without messing up Windows 98?
I KNOW there is a way to do this, because Windows 98 Setup has a 3.1 look if you boot the Setup up from DOS, and if you do DriveSpace, during the restart process, it has a 3.1 appearance, too.
This is important, thanks for your help!

Open system.ini
change the line
shell=Explorer.exe
to
shell=progman.exe
and reboot
reverse to change it back to 98 look

If you want the UI like 3.1 (icons, not mini title bars when minimized, the 3.1 buttons, etc) on 98, sadly, i dont believe it can be done. THe reason 98 looks like 3.1 during the first part of Setup is because Windows 98 stup uses a dumbed down version of 3.1 to begin setup.
