Okay firstly I am on windows 98 and I have a 600 Mhz celeron and 96 MBs of ram. ( The forum keeps keeping things set for my old rig) Anyways.. I have been isntalling many old games onto my computer such as X com and other DOS games. I would like ot know how to make a short cut onto the windows 98 Desktop toplay these games. I hate habing to go into dos and type int he prompt to play the game and such.
Processor P4@ 2.6 Ghz, FSB@535Mhz
RAM 512MB's PC2700/32001 256 stick of each. Hard Disk Drives 1 40 GB HD 1 10 GB HD CD/DVD Drives CDRW52X

Open 'my computer' and browse to the drive and folder containing the file that starts the dos game. Right click on the file, choose 'create shortcut' and then drag the shortcut to the desktop.

Some find it easier to right click the desktop, select new then shortcut. From there you browse for the executable that starts the game.
As always, in windows there are several ways to achieve the same thing. Whichever method suits you best...

See how it works out but you might have to set parameters to make DOS game run in Windows. Some have to run in DOS.

It's still possible to use a shortcut even if the game needs to run in pure DOS, it's just a different procedure...
You would need to create a .BAT file to restart the PC in MSDOS mode, then execute the game. The shortcut would point to the .BAT file, rather than to the game itself.
