First off my system is Pent3 1.ghz WD60gb drive c and WD20gb drive d. 384sdram PNY memory, with about 55gb free on main drive and 18GB free on backup. 82% free on resources, win98se, IE6.0 I cannot figure out why my one program keeps giving me stack dumps. I have Microsoft Platinum Publisher which is loaded (2gb full load). I can use it but upon exiting program I get the error message on a stack dump and have to do a hot boot to clear. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. The only thing operating in the system tray is Ramidle which shows about 235mb free at the time I get the dump.
Thanks for any response. Maybe a Microsoft software problem AGAIN?????

First, please post back the exact error message you are getting.

Second, with 384MB you are running RamIdle?
I certainly hope you are using it as a monitoring tool and are NOT using it to keep memory free!!!!!

Check the systems Config.sys file for a line defining the STACKS. If it is not there you can add it (the Config.sys file will override Windows settings). The line should look like the following:

STACKS=n,s

n... Defines the number of STACKS. Valid values for n are 0 and numbers in the range 8 to 64.

s... Defines STACK size in bytes. Valid values for s are 0 and numbers in the range 32 to 512.

Try the lower values first. If need be try increasing the number of stacks by one (1) and the size by eight (8) bytes untill the problem goes away.

Changing STACKS in config.sys affects DOS apps, not windows apps!!

Besides he indicates he is getting Stack Dumps (the generic name for invalid page faults, etc) NOT Stack Overflows!!
