Hallo

Normally I am a "Linux man" but I need my windows 98 (separate partition) to work for a small camera I have. My computer is IBM ThinkPad 390. It is the display that makes the problem. First I have just installed win 98SE from some CD I had. Then I have picked the missing drivers from IBM's homepage

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/s...

Some bios update the had to be setup from a boot floppy. And audio. And that seems to work. But the screen won't work. The image shows as a small "window" not filling out the whole screen. It has only 16 colors and VGA resolution 480X600. I have tried to install the video driver from IBM but it is not like that sound driver. The sound driver was a "exe" file and after running it I had a dir. with some files among this a setup file to run. Rebut and the I had sound. With the video driver it is the same except there is no setup program to run. I just unpack some file and that does not change anything. I have also tried to manually change to an other display adaptor via the windows system setting I tried the standard SVGA adaptor 800x600 instead of the standard VGA adaptor but that would not work ether. Amongst the file from the IBM video driver there seems to be no INI file.

Has someone got an idea how I can get a better screen (full color 800X600 resolution)?

Go to into DEVICE MANGER (right click MY COMPUTER on Desktop and Left click PROPERTIES)

Expand the entry for the Graphics Driver and choosing properties after highlighting the entry will list details, one page has Update Driver, click on that and point it to the Folder you have downloaded the .INI file etcetc into.
