The latest drivers will speed LT Winmodems up. To upgrade your modem to V.90 and to speed it up DON'T GO LEFT (this once) GO RIGHT to this end all site for LT Winmodems: http://www.808hi.com/56k/x2-lucent.htm#firmware I went from 38.33K to 53.33K

LT Win Modem problems when logging onto the internet.....I have found that the LT Win Modem has a problem when logging onto and internet provider that has US Robotics Modems. I have found especiall on and IBM Aptiva that you must turnon the Microsoft Family Login that requries you to login whenever you turn on the computer. This can also be turned on by going to the password section in Control Panel and telling the system that each person can have there own desktop setup and this usually starts the login process.... You then will need to put 4 commas after the phone number to your provider. This usually fixes the problem....I have found these two steps to be a must do to get it to login and make the hand shake ..... The connection will show 19,200 but the speed still seems to be as fast as it would be without this.....

Sounds like you have a communication problems do to different protocols. U.S. Robotics uses 56Kx2 and Lt Winmodems uses 56K Flex. Get a 56Kflex access number to your ISP and upgrade your modem to v5.39 driver, it will give you the V.90 standard
