I also have a Fujitsu hard drive that needs a low level format done. Searched Fujitsu's site and On-Track with no luck.
Anyone know where I can find this utility?

This type of utility can be found on the relevant drive makers sites, but in my case only the IBM utility will boot my system with a damaged drive.

I have managed to find most of the mentioned utilities, however Fujitsu's dosen't do the job.

Is there something that wil do all makes of drives ???

here is a good utility from Jim Bracking, HDAT to repair your drive, no matter of brand name. A low level format is included. After executing all the commands and remapping with Fjdt.exe from Fujitsu (see above) I could repair 16KB of bad sectors.

1. be sure that the bios knows what type of hard drive it has.
2.boot in a floopy setup a:\ or CD ROM windows 98.
3.type fdisk ,use this utility before format.
4.reboot the computer with the floopy or CDROM.
5. type format c:\ and (enter).
6.now your H.D. is ready for use.
Windows 98 is good for any low level format.

The following is Fujitsu's Disk Manager, which has many HDD utilities, including a Low Level Formatter. I used it on Fujitsu model M1614TAU, it worked fine. I suppose it could work on all other models

Download it from the following link by filling in the required info:
