I am not able to restart or anything else with Ctrl/Alt/Del keys. Nothing happens. It's like some of my keys no longer work. They used to work and I am not doing anything different. Please help. Thank you.

Why are you using the 3 finger salute to re
start your computer ( ctrl/alt/del ). Not a
good idea. That tells me your computer is freezing from time to time. That dosen't
happen just because the " time is up " on your computer program. Yes , you have done
something different. Something has gone wrong
More info would help.

Here lets break it down some more:
Is this a laptop?
What model computer & how old?
Do you run updated anti-virus and spyware/adware scanners?
Have you tried using a friend's keyboard to see if it acts the same?

Have you been having any other computer problems (bugs, lockups, error msgs, etc)?
Did you have an infection, install or uninstall any hardware or software within the week before this started happening? How long has this been happening?

Do you have a highspeed Internet connection?
Is this a ps/2 keyboard or USB?

Test whether the keys work OK by attempting a CTRL-ALT-DEL before the OS starts to load or boot from a bootdisk and try it. If the computer restarts then the problem is in windows somewhere and not the KB.

Hi Hannah, kalcomputers, DAVEINCAPS, saksham, hi everyone

You can also test the separate keys from within Windows.

Open the Windows Explorer, click on the C: drive in the left pane, left-click (once) on a file in the right pane, hold down your left or right [Ctrl]key, click on a few other files (single click). Are the files you clicked all selected? If so, your [Ctrl]key isn't malfunctioning.

Next test the [Del]key:
Open Notepad, type in a bunch of letters, place the cursor at the first row, hold down your [Del]key. Are the characters deleted? If so, your [Del]key is working to. :-)

Now test your [Alt]key:
Still with the same notepad file in front of you, tab the [Alt]+[F]key's, does this bring up the File-menu? If so, your [Alt]key is functioning properly to. :-)

If all three test can be confirmed, you or a someone else with access to your computer, might have been playing with maybe Desktop Power Toys (TweakUI)?

Best Regards and Wishes,
