lost taskbar and icons

When i turn on my computer, the taskbar shows up for a second or two, then disappears. The wallpaper is there on the desktop, but no icons. I can move the mouse cursor, but clicking does nothing. CTRL-ALT-DEL shows that there is nothing running. Same problem in safe mode.

See the earlier post by Niven. I posted a response to an incorrectly posted problem by Karen in that thread. Sounds like you may have the same problem. If not, post back.

Right click on the taskbar then properties an make sure you have not checked the auto hide box and the other 3 are checked, providing you want these options. M

Boot to a DOS prompt and at the C:> prompt type: scanreg /restore. Then restore to an earlier date. Then make sure your A/V software is up to date.
