My task bar has disappeared!!

I loaded "The Sims" and switched to 1024x768 mode (which required driver change). Later discovered that 1024x768 didn't work well for Half-Life, so I switched back to 800x600.

Somewhere in the reboots, my task bar disappeared. I've rebooted 3 times, no task bar.

Task bar cannot just disappear like that. Move your mouse pointer downwards and see if pointer changes to double headed arrow this should allow you to stretch it to normal if it is squeezed somehow in the process. Check your monitor settings to see if you haven't stretched the desktop over!

Go to your control panel settings and reset the display to the smallest avilible one. See if you task bar is there, because like last reply, they don't vanish, just temorarily drop out of sight. Once you find it, then increase your settings accordingly.

You can also place your mouse pointer on the left, right, or top or the screen to find a taskbar that might had been moved accidently.

if the other suggestions dont work? Try this:
use Registry Editor to remove the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StuckRects
When you restart Windows, the taskbar SHOULD automatically be recreated...
only attempt this if you are comfortable with messing with the registry!

Oops. You were all right - it doesn't disappear! I have two monitors but the second was not on. That's where it was!!

Hiding! The little rascal. I've grounded it for a week!

Thanks
