Comment:
I had to reinstall windows 95. Now I don't find the driver for my external PCMCIA-Card- CD-drive. There is no company name on the device, but it looks like a Sony. It only says: Portable 6X CD-Rom MCD-601P. Can anybody help me?

Try the Add New Hardware. Or try Sony's site for the drivers but Win95 should have drivers for it. This is why they say to back-up your stuff.

You dont need a cd rom driver in windows. Its the controler its hooked to that needs drivers. See if the pcmcia controller is properly installed in device manager. Probablly Texas inst. Note that these controlers are installed sharing the same interupt with a child device.Making a print out of the complete device manager configeration and backing up any driver files listed is a good idea for laptops

OK, Go to: www.install.com It is the Knowlwdge Dynamics Corp Home Page. The "wINSTALL 4.0" might work. Let me know if it does, because I do not have the CD Rom here with me, but if it works I'll have my sister send it to me. Thanks, Alex.

My daughter just got an old packard bell. I formated the drive but now it won't recognize the cd rom. I don't have any software for it like the master restore diskette. The original driver is Oti-91x. Can somebody please help? I am only a novice.
