Lost Icons in tray system

Hey, thanks for looking at my message. It's not a serious one as everything else is running fine, but there is one small quirk I was wondering about.
After receiving a "This computer has performed an illegal procedure and will shut down the program, blah blah blah," I lost my volume and intellimouse icons from the tray system. I'm still able to access these functions by accessing the control panel (or volume control with the volume). These icons still did not return even after shutting down and rebooting. I was wondering how I may reinstall these small but convenient little icons. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Joe M.

Ive noticed that error message says its Explorer or Internet Explorer related, then the systray stuff goes away. They always come back after a re-boot for me though. I would check the registry, perhaps something got rid of your Systray startup. Run regedit, go to Hkey_local_machine | SOFTWARE | Microsoft | Windows | Currentversion | Run, make sure Systray.exe is listed. If not, you may either insert a new DWORD value, call it SystemTray and give it a value of Systray.exe, or re-install Windows (whichever is easier for you.)
