Had a similar problem with an onboard video adapter. Turns out that I had to use the Windows '95 driver instead of the 98 driver.

I have gon some where on the interent and downloaded the 256, true, and high colors, but I can't remember where i downloaded them at. Could someone please help. Does anyone have a Windows 95 driver for the S3 Trio 32/64 PCI display adapter? Have tried S3 itself, including their ftp site, but they don't seem to even mention this old card. Many people seem to have the same problem... Thanks, jim

I had the same problem...And tried everything . The thing to do is buy you a new Video Card the software is in there and your problem will be solved. I tried everything believe me. Best Buy has the Voodoo3 2000pci for 100 dollars with a 30 dollar mail in rebate. The cheapest I have ever seen. Durham, NC

I was able to get around the problem with the 65545 on the Extensa 510 laptop by installing the Chips & Technology Super VGA driver instead of the one Windows was trying to install. That gave me 256 colors.

I installed a Voodoo to my computer and now the color got screwed up. I downloaded some s--- before and it worked but now I dont remember that to look for. HERE IS THE ANSWER! YES, FOR SURE, THE ANSWER! And the winner is.....Erik Wolfner. Read his posting of September 17, 2000 at 18:43:35 in which he describes the solution.....tricking windows into utilizing a chips and technology driver different than the one it tries to use. I had this same problem a year ago and cured it the same way....but only after some extensive internet searching....and a little help from the Microsoft Knowledge Base (which I couldn't live without!!!!) If you search the MS Knowledge Base today you should find this to be such a common problem that the solution has become standardized to the point where there are instructions for debugging dependent upon ones operating system.
