Losing my mind in Mississippi

I recently moved to Jackson, MS and upon arrival I set up my computer...now I don't have any sound at all...Went to the device manager and checked the sound and it has ? next to it...how do I find out what card I have and since I lost all the software...when I find out what card I have, is there anywhere I can download an instant fix...thank u in advance.

Hi it would be very possible doing the move the sound card became loose, try resetting it. while its out to reset copy the 'i think' FCC # , with the # some one may post what web site to look up the manufacture.

ok, Top, I did that and I went into the device manager and all that, I tried to load the driver I got, but it's telling me I need a Sound Blaster AudioPCI disk...I don't have one...but the puter is also telling me that I have the file I need on my computer, but it won't let the thing load...Can somebody tell me if I need to quit this adventure and buy a new sound card...any advice will do for me at this time...thx

hi i am haveing to guess here. see if you have a folder in c:\program files that might have someting to do with sound card with luck it will have a card setup program there. could do a web search for you sound card, might find a downloadable program for setup.
try this first: IF it has not been more the 5 bootup days try booting to dos or select at shutdown to reboot to dos best use of boot floppy, and do a regscan/restore and pick a date of backup registrys before the move.

Go to the Sound Blaster web site and download the driver for your card onto a floppy disk. I haven't done it for awhile but I think the driver you get from the web site is a .exe type file and might just install itself? If that doesn't work try removing the sound card from device manager and reboot again. Windows will detect a "new device" and offer to install the driver. If it can't find the driver on your system you can direct it to the one you now have on floppy.
