I have some files in my computer which have been deleted. However, I understand that certain programs can recover those files. What software can I use to make sure that those files NEVER get recovered? Dell PC, pentium MB, Windows 98, about 10G hard drive, 64 megs RAM

Unless they are programs, or something programed or active,if they have been deleted and you emptied the recycle bin, they ain't coming back.

Try the above address.

Speaking theoretically to someone:
I don't see why you couldn't fill up the drive intentionally, with say, pictures of small animals, then the previous data would be overwritten.

Norton has Wipeinfo, which will delete and overwrite files with 000's. This permanently erases them. It's SpeedDisk defrag will also write 000's over all free space on the drive. The combination ensures that after emptying recycle bin, all is absolutely lost.
