Comment:

I seem to randomly lose the ability to click on hyperlinks when using Netscape Navigator (v. 4.7) - the cursor switches to the 'hand', but clicking has no effect.

Anyone have any ideas?

cheers,
dara

One of my P2 machines does this also. My solution is to quit Netscape. When it's closed and the computer (hard drive) quits making noise, then do CTRL+ALT+DEL. Click on Netscape and click End Task. If Netscape is not in the list, then it's already closed. Then just restart the browser and you're good to go...until next time. Unfortunately, there always is a next time and often it's hard to find the page you were on when it quits working! You might want to highlight the Location (http://......) and do copy (CTRL+C). Then when you restart Netscape, you can do (CTRL+V). My last idea is that you could use Internet Explorer (if you're not a diehard Netscape-only or Anti-Microsoft type person). I used to use Netscape Exclusively, but I discovered that IE is much faster (because if you use Windows 95 or 98 it's always running in memory anyway so it takes only about 2 seconds to startup!). Also, IE supports everything Netscape does, plus much more.

I have this problem sometimes to. For me, when this happens, I can still right-click the link and do "open in new window". However, I usually just ctrl-alt-delete netscape and then restart it.
