I am looking for the sysmgmt32.dll file. I have searched on all the search engines and have come up with nothing. If anyone has this file, could you please email it to me? Or direct me to where I might be able to find it? Thank you.

It is not found on the Win98 CD.

Why are you seeking this file?
Does a particular program ask for it and if so, which program is it?

That's odd. I put the file name into Google and got lots of hits.

It looks as if you don't need this file because it is a virus. Update your virus definitions and run a scan.

See this:

BACKDOOR LALA VIRUS

It gives a manual fix that involves the registry. Their may be some sort of fix around that you can download if you search around.

The reason I was looking for it is because a friend of mine said she needed it and it was because she got a trojan. I don't really know why she needs it and anything that did come up in the search engines referred to the Symantec site.

She definitly doesn't need it. She almost certainly has (or had) the Virus I described and needs to take the necessary action along the lines suggested.

It may be that she has removed the Virus itself but has not properly cleared the all the relevant entries. That would result in the system still asking for that file.

Post back if she cannot sort it out, though really the Security & Virus forum would be the best/proper place to go.

Good luck

Derek
