Logitech Mouse Pointer Not Moving!

I have a Logitech optical cordless mouse and last night I pulled the batteries out as I rec'd the notice that they were getting low. I pulled the batteries out before I shutdown and then used Alt F4 to shutdown the system. When I awoke this morning, I noticed that I have a mouse pointer on my screen, but the mouse is not moving the pointer. I tried pressing the button on the buttom of the mouse which syncs to the receiver, but nothing moves the pointer. Anybody else ever have this issue?

I have one at work and it has frozen up a few times. Sometimes they don't like some software I just uploaded, or might need a new driver along with the batteries. I keep and old extra mouse handy, turn off cpu reboot and most of the time that works, I also have gone into the settings and readjusted them. Or sometimes plug in the extra mouse so I can ge around reboot and hit both connection buttons on the bottom so the mouse reactivates, turn it off unplug old mouse and away it goes.
