Hi,
I have a Logitech Cordless optical mouse running on a Netvista 2179. The problem I am having is sometimes the cursor will freeze on the screen, even though battery levels are good and the drivers and mouseware are installed to the latest versions. Reboots don't help. The system recently began to crash with blue screens and errors regarding em_exec with diagnostic hooks showing up under the Dr. Watson program showing its hooked by lgmsghk.dll and lgwndhk.dll. Any reason why all this is happening? I am using a IBM Netvista 2179 with Windows 98SE. Thanks.

stephenippolito, try this little trick. Go to control panel find system (open it) and then advance tab and you should see a little slide bar. Turn that slide bar, graphics acceleration to the left until it is off. Then reboot your system see if that helps with the freezing of the mouse. Also here is link that I believe will help out with the em_exec (entry point not found)

Being a Logitech cordless mouse freak (I buy nearly everyone I can find on ebay because I never want to run out of them :-) I can give you the following tips:
- check the batteries AGAIN with a multimeter, you may have a duff one in there
- clean the battery contacts with a tiny bit of emery paper or nail file, fully blow the dust out
- Clean the ball by rolling it hard on a pair of Levis or other roughish material
- Clean the ball contacts
- Make sure you have the latest drivers. I think the latest version for Cordless mouseman is 9.75
- Make sure you use a mouse pad, the softer foam ones are best, as the hard ones tend to wear down the ball.
If all this fails, it may prefer another channel, but resetting the mouse and receiver and re-installing will do this:

Resetting the mouse (instructions direct from Logitech, telephone support here in switzerland:
- Remove the batteries from the mouse
- Take a pair of scissors and "short out" the mouse by connecting any + battery pole to any minus pole for NO LESS THAN 20 seconds
- Using a pencil press in the button on the **receiver** (if you have the version with the button on it, early ones don't) for NO LESS THAN 20 seconds.
- Replace the batteries into the mouse
- Press the button under the mouse quickly, just for a second, (the number of flashes tell you which channel it is now on).
- Re-install the software and continue even if it says at the beginning that it cannot detect your mouse. It'll sort itself out during the installation.

Hope this helps
Dane
