Hi, after having to "re-setup" Windows because of some problems in adding a new video card, now when I boot, not only does it take a longer time, but it seems to always boot to some Default User, and never asks for my login password.
This means that I cannot access my network without first going Start/Logoff and re-logging on with my supposed only User Name and password. After this it works for that session.I have already tried deleting and re-adding users, deleting the "pwl" files, and removing and re-installing all the network components.
Also, it doesnt make any difference if the "Primary Network Logon" is Windows, Windows Family, or Client for Microsoft Networks.Any ideas?

PS
I have now done a search of the archives (since 1999) and I see that many people seem to have had this same problem, but nobody yet seems to have found a solution.
If anybody has found a solution, please post!

its in registry
do start run regedit
then search for key
auto logon
when found right click on
it an itll look
like auto logon
00.00.00
series of numbers
change the last 2 to
01 instead of 00
itll start asking for password

I tried everything. The only thing that finally worked was the following that someone posted awhile back.
First, go to start, find, files & folders; type in pwl and delete all .pwl files in C:\Windows only (do not delete windows system files with .pwl) for example, your username.pwl or default.pwl
THEN, go to start, run, and type "sysedit" click OK. Multiple windows will appear on your screen, click on the window titled "System.ini"
Delete all lines under "Password Lists" that start with your username= or default=
When you restart, you should receive the logon box for a username and password, and you can click ok without putting in a password if you dont want to use one. This should allow you to start with just your username and not a default user.
