My computer used to lockup every so often but now it is becoming more & more frequent. usually it'll lockup followed by a message saying my system is unstable. after that the screen will become blank (black)& i'll have to reboot. i've read somewhere that it is possible that i'm using too much memory for win98 se (1006 gig). any suggestion will be appreciated.

I think you mean 1006 MB not GB ;)
(there is no such large amount of memory available)

Yes, 1006 MB of RAM is too much for Windows 98SE. The maximum it can handle stably is 512 MB.

Not true epp_b. But you need a minor fix if you have over 500mb.

Re your link.

It worries me that it comes up with that old chestnut of setting VM Min=Max. There is no case whatsoever for putting a max on VM and it could cause trouble. If you wish you can set a minimum in system.ini that will still reserve a block of VM.
