Ok, its experiment time...I don't know what loadwc.exe is, except that its an exe or executable file, which means its a program of some kind. I don't think its part of the 9X platform.

What I would do if I were you is experiment in a harmless manner with it.

Make a temporary directory using Windows Explorer...call it TEMP1 or whatever.

Now, use Start-Search-Files or Folders and locate the loadwc.exe file. Now you know where it is located on your computer.

Using Windows Explorer, MOVE this file from its current location (make note of the exact path where it was) TO the TEMP1 directory.

Now, shut down and reboot. Does anything change? Did you have any problems? If so, what?

If there are problems, serious ones, then reboot into Safe Mode, hold down F-8 on bootup until you get the list up and boot back into Windows. Move the file back from TEMP1 to the current folder which you originally moved it from and everything should be at least back the way it was without harm.

I am thinking, something is conflicting on shut down and so if you move the file temporarily, either you do not need it or you need to let Windows re-set some things when it no longer finds it. Sometimes, to fix these errant problems, Windows has to be FORCED into a near heart throb to re-arrange things so they work right. Give this a shot and see if it works.

Connie,

Loadwc.exe, also known as Load WebCheck, customizes some of the settings in Internet Explorer. Loadwc.exe adds, removes, and updates subscriptions.

Should re-install Internet Explorer.
Only takes a few minutes with cable connection.

Got to the the Cable connection much better though.

Good Day!
Mesich

Just disable it from msconfig--no need to reinstall. Go to Start/Run/type msconfig/Startup and un-check the below entry. That should do it."Browser Web Check--loadwc.exe" (Checks to make sure that IE is still your default browser.) Came with the I.E. 5.5 download--all should disable it as a drain on resources.
