I would suggest dumping loadqm from all of your "Win9X" machines.

Part of MSN messenger & a known resource drainer.

You may also want to check your documentation for WinU:

" It's easy to set up, easy to use, and virtually impossible to circumvent."

Press F8 repeatedly while booting, after memory count, before Windows starts to load - when the menu appears, choose "Step by Step...."
Answer Yes to everything except a command line containing "loadqm" - that should get you to a normal Desktop.
Use Start - Run - type: msconfig - OK
click on the Startup tab - find the line that loads "loadqm" - disable it by removing the checkmark, OK, reboot - you should boot all the way into Windows.

"loadqm" - I've seen that before - MSMessenger? ICQ? Cleansweep?

Find that file name on your computer - where it is will tell you the program that uses it. Re-install the program or un-install it.

Use MSConfig to disable stuff that doesn't need to be running when you install or uninstall software (you should always do this):
- look under Startup tab.
Some are default Windows ones - ScanRegistry, System Tray, TaskMonitor, LoadPowerProfile, SchedulingAgent - they are supposed to run all the time, and are necessary for the normal operation of windows - normally they can be left as is. There will also be at least one entry for something to do with your video display adapter, usually identifiable by something indicating a brand or model name of the adapter (e.g. ATI....). If you use a software firewall, there will be at least one entry for that. There will be at least one entry for your anti-virus program (e.g. Norton Anti Virus - name usually starts with NAV). Everything else other than these entries can be disabled by clicking on the box to the left to remove the checkmark.

I think that I'd already mentioned that it was from MSN messenger.

Removal instructions are provided in the link - it also comes back whenever MSN is updated.

Sorry jboy, I missed that.

My Nieces keep loading Messenger when they visit, and after they leave I disable loadqm and something else MSN in MSConfig - Startup. One of those two is the ONLY program I have on my computer that always produces a registry error than has to be fixed, every time, when I do this. Some bugs in at least one of those.

Oh, no problem. I thought I'd had it disabled on one machine, but a recent post led me to the link above.
