Specs: Windows 98, 62,400KB
I can't seem to load a 3.1 program called
Eight-in-One that is on a 5.25 floppy on my 486 Windows 98 desktop. I get an error message: b can't install or read.
Is there a resolution to this problem?

I assume B is your 5 1/4" floppy drive. Check in the BIOS screens to verify the drive is configured correctly there. If not showing in the BIOS then check the power and data cables.

Those older programs sometimes needed specific drives available especially if they were made to run on floppy disks only. That might be the case or the disk may be corrupted. Those 5 1/4 disks are really flakey and it's quite possible your disk--which may be 20 years old--is bad. You should probably try to copy its contents to a folder on your hard drive for safe keeping, just in case.

If the disk is bad you may be able to download it. Check #5 in this old thread:

That link sends you to a yahoo page wanting you to log in so I can't be sure if the file is still there.
