lmouse.vxd error

OS: win98
CPU/Ram: AMD2000/256DDR

When i start win98, it comes out a message that lmouse.vxd is error in win.ini or system.ini... then computer said it is windows proection error and shut down the computer.. Why? and how to fix that .. thanks!

Go back to a good copy of the registry .

Toggle F8 ( when , verifying DMI pool message comes on ) or Press
Ctrl during bootup , depends on your computer .

Select , Safe mode Command prompt

After the C prompt , type , scanreg /restore

Follow the prompts and select a registry dated prior to the problems .

This article describes how to restore a backup copy of the Windows 98
or Windows Millennium Edition (Me) registry
scanreg /restore

what about the vmouse.vxd?
if i choose step by step confirmation after pressing F8 key... i choose Yes to all options... then i saw "Override the existing Vmouse.VXD = Y or N? What i can choose?
I am using Microsoft Optical Mouse driver 4.11 for win98se. Other machine i am using logitech optical mouse.
