I'm using win98se with high speed cable and AOL 9.0 broadband. I want to install a linksys router. Should I be using the broadband type router or it doesn't really make any difference?

I don't know what you mean by "broadband type router". If you haven't gotten a router yet, I would recommend getting one with a built in switch, which many have these days. The routers I am familiar with work with DSL or cable and connect by Ordinary RJ45 patch cables or USB. Of course there is also wireless.

Go to AOL's broadband web site and read their recommendations on which broadband router. I have a Linksys BEFSR41 and it works fine.
