Hi,
When I click on a link that opens a new window, the window will appear, but the info won't fill in. I just get the hourglass by the cursor.
Only one place that does this works, and I have no idea why.
So far to try to fix this problem, I have uninstalled Ad-Aware, which I had had for several weeks before this problem started, reinstalled IE 6, and set several things back to default settings, none of which have helped. I use Outlook Express and have a hotmail account, and can't use links in e-mail in either place.
I have no problems with the links that just change the page you're on when they are loaded, only the new window ones.
I would really appreciate some help on this, even my ISP techdesk is out of clues!
Someone did suggest I might have a bad path or something, but I don't even remember how we got there now...HELP!
Thanks,
deltalady

Try this first.
Go to Start, Run, type in
"regsvr32 urlmon.dll"
without the quotation marks, and hit the OK button.

Did it fix it?

Hi Mesich, can you please explain how to rename oleaut32.dll from Dos. I presume that not all know how to do it right.

Hi Tommy,

I would be glad to. Here is how I just did.

First this is for oleaut32.dll and not files that are required to start Windows.

Go to Start, Shutdown, Restart in Ms-Dos Mode.

You will be at a C:\Windows> prompt.
At C:\Windows> type cd system [Enter]
You will now see C:\Windows\System>
type rename oleaut32.dll oleaut32.lld [Enter]
You should now be back to the C:\Windows\System> type cd.. [Enter]
At the C:\Windows> type win [Enter]
This will restart Windows.

You will receive an error message like such:
A required .dll file C:\Windows\System\oleaut32.dll was not found.
Click on OK.

Go to the new oleaut32.dll and right click on the file and select copy.

Go to the C:\Windows\System folder and right click on a blank area then select Paste.

Restart the computer.
