Lindows/Win 98 memory discrepancy

Comment:
I bought a PC that came loaded with Lindows OS. It was supposed to have 10 GB of memory and it display that amount under the Lindows OS. However when I unistalled Lindows and Installed Windows 98, Drive C: shows a total of only 2 GB of memory. I assumed that there was a partition somewhere in the disk and that maybe the rest of the memory was in some other hidden drive. However I can't find any other drives in the computer. Also I tried removing any partitions from the disk but the system says there aren't any. Is this a problem only the manufacturer can solve or is it possible for me to try to find the cause/solution to the problem? Or maybe I just have a bad disk. Any ideas?

I believe the term you mean to use is "hard drive capacity", and not "memory" (10 GB would be a LOT of memory).
Chances are that you formatted your hard drive using the FAT(16) filesystem, which only recognizes drives of up to 2 GB. Anything bigger, and FAT can't use the rest of it. If you want to install Windows 98 on a hard drive larger than 2 GB, you need to format the drive as FAT32. This will properly utilize 10 GB.
If you're using FDISK, press "Y" when asked to enable large drive support. This will tell FDISK to use FAT32 when formatting the drive.
