hi, my roomate is running windows 98 on a fairly old computer.... he downloaded limewire and when he tries to open it something blocks it from accessing the internet... does windows 98 have its own firewall built in?? i cant find anything to show it does... also he is running norton 2003 pro... could that have something to do with it? i have tried disabling norton and that didnt work... also recently i was trying to link my xbox to his Computer using XBConnect... same problem... it says firewall is blocking it from accessing the net... we are running a 2wire 2700 GH router with built in firewall but i have changed all those settings already and both the programs i listed above work fine on our wireless laptop... so therefore that cannot be the problem either... any help would be much apprecciated

Don't know, but W98 definitely does not have it's own firewall. If there's one there it would be a third party program.

"norton 2003 pro" If that's a firewall and he wasn't paying attention to it then he may have said yes to block communications through the required ports. Your best bet if it is a firewall would be to uninstall it first and then try to use XBConnect and Limewire, if it works reinstall it and then make sure he allows the needed ports to be unblocked by the firewall.
