Lexmark Printer - Major Problem

Comment:

I have a Lexmark 2030 Colorfine 2 Printer which I am having a lot of problems with.

Whenever I ask any application to print a document the printer responds in one of the following ways:

1. The document begins to print and after a couple of seconds, before the progress gauge has even got to 1%, it spits out the paper and either refuses to print or starts printing on another sheet, usually loosing the top of the document.

2. The document prints up to a certain percentage, which can vary between les than 5% to up to 25% or more, then either repeats the above process or just stops and returns a "printer not responding" error.

3. Occasionaly if I am very lucky I will get a whole page to print but this is very rare and often takes too many attempts by which time I am ready to throw the printer out the window!!

I have the printer connected through a parralel port scanner and have tried it with disabled and enabled "bi-directional comunications", still with no joy. I have also tried the printer direct to the port still with no success.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer drivers several times, using the Lexmark Setup program and without it, but to no avail. After uninstalling the printer is always re-detected by Windows, even when connected to the scanner, so I don't think there is a problem with the cables.

I have downloaded the latest drivers I can find and even some older ones for this printer from Lexmark's Web site, but these don't seem to work either.

I have even reformated my system and reinstalled the printer as one of the first programs back on the hard disk, but again this dosen't succeed.

I bought a new IEEE compliant printer cable as I thought it might be that, but no it still plays up.

I do remember at one point the printer control panel that appears saying it had a technical fault and to contact an engineer, but this went away and has never appeared again. The printer control panel does have a greyed-out "Service" tab, which apparently is used by technical support, but I can't get hold of any technical support!

I am now at the end of my tether with this printer and am about ready to ditch it in the nearest river, so I need some help soon.

I have had no problems with my previous "Lexmark 1020" printer which is in use on my wife's PC with no problem, which is partly why I bought another Lexmark.

Also if I put the 2030 on my wife's PC it seems to work fine, which leads me to believe it is a "software" problem on my PC, but then why has it been working fine on my PC for the last four months up until now?

If anyone can give me any help or advice I would be very grateful.

Thank you for your time.

You can remove the parellel port from device manager and reinstall it in add new hardware. The drivers could be corrupt and can be extracted from the cd-rom. com.drv , serialui.vxd ect.

Can't believe a Lexmark causes problems, I thrash my 1020 and 5700 all the time. If ergmiester's suggestions don't help, call Lexmark's toll free tech support # 1-800-539-6275. Have the printer's serial # ready.
They still give me free support on my 1020 and it's been out of warranty for years.

My Lemark ExecjetIIc 4076 will no longer print with a color cartridge, it prints fine with black. To my knowledge no one has done anything to cause this. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled it but to no avail. It may soon join yours in the river.

We have a Lexmark 3200 which has been a pain. It seems that the printer can only handle one print job at a time. If you ask it to do more, it locks up and we can't purge the original job. This leads us to continualy resart our computer. Sound familiar to anyone?

I have just purchased a Lexmark Z11 color jetprinter, and right after I got home and installed it, everything seemed to be working fine. But upon rebooting my computer, I have had all sorts of problems. First, I could not even access my desktop. Finally, after regaining entry to my desktop, I uninstalled and reinstalled it at which time I keep getting an error message that Lexmark Z11 series driver disk is now required. I inserted the disk that came with the printer, but this is not solving my problem. I keep getting the error message, driver disk not found. Please help. I have called Tech Support, and they don't even know what to do.Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am also having problems with a Lexmark 3200 Inkjet printer. It seems that there is some form of incompatibility between this printer's driver and what Microsoft Windows 98 SE makes available on the update CD. I have tried downloading the "most recent" driver from the Lexmark site to no avail. I have also called their Tech Support and following their instructions only seemed to create further complications.

Additionally, I have searched for a resolution at Microsoft's Support sites and could find nothing of substance regarding this issue. I should add that Lexmark Support seemed to think it was a "network" problem but reconfiguring some of the settings only created "new" problems in that regard. The printer is (and always has been)excruciatingly slow, much slower than advertised. I assume that resolution of the basic problem will speed it up.

I would appreciate any input regarding this. Thanks.

My experience:

HP Pavilion + Win98 SE + Lexmark 3200 = NO PRINT

Tried uninstalling + reinstalling + turning off + turning on + resetting printer (via self test) + calling Lexmark. Went thru the 4 Pavilion BIOS settings: "compatible" (whatever that is), bidirectional, EPP, ECP; uninstalled, deleted LPT1 port, turned both machines off, then PC on (to reinstall port) then shutdown/pc off, then printer on, then pc, then reinstall Lexmark.

my conclusion is F!#! IT.

I have a lexmark 2030 printer that performed well for about two years until recently. When a word document or any document is sent to printer for printing, the printer behaves as though it is actually printing but nothing gets printed on the paper. Furthermore, more than one sheet, sometimes three, four or five sheets are release by the printer head with nothing printed.

For you guys having color printing problems with the Execjet IIC, you need to install the COLOR driver for this fossil. If you don't have a 'color' option in properties, you are using the old MONO driver. It was designed as a mono printer and the software updates it to be able to print in color. They have the driver available on the Lexmark website.

I have a Lexmark 1020 color jetprinter, my problem is that when I installed it to my computer the information set up page printed out in very large letter. I went through trouble shooting and the only problem I could find is that I have it on the wrong printer port. I lost the manual so I don't know what port it should be on. Can you help?

Lexmarks Z42 windows 2000 driver causes the system fails to logout, restart and shut down after installation. You will notice the problem when you login and logout twice.
The printer driver is the latest one from lexmark homepage.
