Lexmark printer is'nt recognized

My lexmark printer is'nt recognized by my computer. If I go to start, programs, lexmark printer then open it, then I can print a test page or clean nozzles but when I find something on the internet or do a word document or something it will not print.It says, Cannot print because there is no printer installed on this computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it but still same thing. Can someone help me? Thank You

You can try re-installing the driver. Also, check to make sure that the correct port is selected.

And make sure that it is set as the default printer. Some other programs will try and grab the default setting.

Hi as above post from seawatch you can set it default by Start/Settings/printers and be sure a black check mark is by the printer icon if not there right click on icon and select set as default.

Lexmark doesn't like to use the add printer system to install itself. You have to put the driver in and run its software that way. Also if it USB (I'm sure it is) sometimes on looking for a driver you have to tell it to search, then choose the one that says lx9xusb or something to that effect. It won't go in on the USB port unless you do. It will try to install on LPT1 which is a serial port. I have run nothing but lexmarks since I have had printers. I started with a lexmark 1000, driver on a floppy disk. now I have lexmark x75 printer/scanner combo and I love it.
