Hi there,
In a holiday house that some friends use,
which only has a 12 volt solar power supply (with batt back up) for the electrical devices,
we wish to have a pc for primarily playing Mp3's, but the main problems is finding something for the display (that runs on 12 volts).
Would it be possible to hook up an old lap top screen, as i would assume it would be low voltage 9~12 volts?
anybody have any ideas on this subject, or any other way of having a low powered display attached to a pc??
thankyou for any assistance

You could use an `inverter' to convert the 12 VDC to 120AC. You might need one with good frequency control for a monitor. Check Radio Shack.

There are LCD monitors that will work on 12v dc. www.EarthLCD.com A bit expensive $299.

There are also motherboards made to operate on 12 volts. Some of these have been used in MP3 players for cars. Search for them.
