You may need to delete the partition and start over. What steps have you tried so far to install Windows and what version are you trying to install?

If you don't have the OS CD, then it sounds to me like you didn't buy this computer new and the previous owner had Linux on it.

You'll need to buy a valid Operating System and install it. Unless you want to use Linux...

Well first you have to get an operating system. What are you wanting to have on there? You can choose some version of Windows or Linux. But if you don't know how to install an OS that could prove problematic.

Hi Luke, Kurt S, GX1 Man, jboy, Jennifer, hi everyone

Luke
Once you have made up your mind about which OS to install on the laptop, you will find this link handy to download the necessary drivers. It may also help you to decide which OS you will need to buy and install. :-)

You may also be in need of a suitable bootdisk to address your CD-ROM drive from DOS, near the end of this page "Load Windows using swapable drives" you can download Toshboot.zip.
After downloading the .zip file extract the contents of the .zip file, do not copy the .zip it self, to a fresh/blank floppy disk.

If you decide to buy a valid/legal Operating System, let's say Win9x, How-To Partition and Format a Hard Drive answers your #4. :-)

jboy, Who's on First? ;-)

Luke i have the exact laptop (Ah the Tosh 460CDT on a P166MHz with 32Meg of Ram). If you need to get to the BIOS configuration hold down the escape key when the system starts (when it begins to test the RAM). I've changed the os more times on mine then i can be bothered with :P currently got MS DOS6.22 with WIn3.11 (had trouble with the 3.1 sound drivers) and win98se on there.
