I'm running Win98 SE on an older laptop (an IBM Thinkpad 380XD). When the computer's booting, the entire screen displays text. As soon as Windows starts, however, only the center of the screen is used, leaving a 3/4 inch margin on all sides of the screen blank. What's the deal? How can I make the laptop use the whole screen?

Go to control panel and click on display>click on settings and increase your screen size, that should do it....

Try to go to IMBs website and download the latest video drivers. I had the same problem and this fixed it. That and make sure that you choose laptop display for your monitor.
