laptop display gone (compaq)

after replacing harddrive on compaq armada 1130, screwed the thing back together and everything works fine except my laptop display (external monitor works fine) already checked the hardware setup and it is configured just fine... I can adjust the brightness of the display but can't see anything else but a black (darkgrey) screen. any suggestions?

You missed something puting it back together..
Little confused...How did you check the hardware setup if you can not see anything on the screen...
Also if it is like a Toshiba, the monitor function key is a 3 way switch (fn f5)... Laptop, Laptop and external, external only..
Have you tried all combinations....

tried all options (fn f4) and can see external monitor, thats how i could check things and did forget to put everything back, got a peice left (v~ shaped) it's thin and looks like it is not necessary, can't find a place to fit it in... but i'll try again...

Well, the only thing I can suggest is take apart again and see if you missed something or take it to a shop....
