I know how to install most components for a desktop computer but i never have had or been albe to expermient with a laptop computer are they just the same about upgrading with them the reason i ask is because someone asked me if i would install a modem for there laptop so any nfo would help thanks:)

You've virtually no chance of putting an internal modem into a laptop, use an external one exactly as you would use it with a desktop, or if the laptop has PCMCIA sockets, you can plug one in there, but they're a damn sight more expensive.

thanks buddy the guy did say it had pcmcia and i really didnt wanna tell him i could do it not ever even have used a laptop except for at the store looking at them

all what you need is type II for installing modem and NIC card...you can buy-it from Radiocheck or from future shope and it look like a visas card you insert-it on the side of the laptop and ways to go ...don,t worry you can Read the instructions and you will be fine ..but you have to make sure which one is the Right one for your laptop.. as for the memory you can use typeI and for the HDD you can use type III ...but they very expensive....blessings
